How we built it

Most providers start with buildings and bolt on connectivity later. We did the opposite. Ziply Fiber started with a 400G-capable backbone and built everything else around it — metro rings, long-haul routes, data center connections, and colocation facilities all engineered to work as one system.

 

Since 2020, we've tripled our network footprint and invested hundreds of millions of dollars in new fiber infrastructure. We're not done.

Built for performance

Our fiber core backbone carries more than 20 terabytes per second across all inter-city routes. We operate at no more than 40% utilization during peak hours — giving us headroom to absorb traffic spikes, handle maintenance, and keep performance consistent when it matters most.

We peer directly with more than 200 major content providers, including major hyperscale, cloud, and content platforms, via multiple high-capacity direct fiber connections. That means less latency, lower costs, and no third-party handoffs slowing your traffic down.

Redundancy engineered in

We don't treat redundancy as an afterthought. Triple-route diversity is built into every major metro. Fully redundant core backbone extends to the local aggregation level. Dual-homed NOCs sit on both sides of the Cascades, monitoring the network 24/7.

If something happens — weather, construction, equipment failure — traffic reroutes automatically. You stay online.

 

 

 

The Northern Link Route

 

Our Northern Link Route is one of our most strategic assets — a 400G-capable, fully underground transport link connecting Seattle, Hillsboro, Spokane, Minneapolis and Chicago.

 

It's the shortest direct path from the Pacific Northwest to the Midwest, purpose-built for latency-sensitive workloads like financial services, hyperscale data traffic and APAC-bound traffic moving east. Because it runs fully underground, it avoids the wildfire, storm and disruption risks common on traditional overland routes.

 

The route is live, operational and carrying traffic today.
